It is understood that the economic losses caused by the earthquake have also reached 2% of Türkiye's GDP.

The earthquake has caused serious damage to Turkey and Syria, and the international community has also shown a rare solidarity in recent years. Countries have sent rescue teams to the disaster site at the first time. However, the area of the disaster area stretches for hundreds of kilometers, traffic is also difficult due to the earthquake, and food and medical supplies are extremely scarce, which brings great difficulties to the rescue.

From the pictures sent back from the disaster area, it can be seen that the collapse of houses caused by the earthquake in Türkiye is very serious, many houses have been smashed and broken, and even the main structure of some houses has been invisible, which not only increases economic losses, but also brings many difficulties to rescue. It is understood that most of the buildings in the eastern villages of Türkiye are simple masonry structures. Even in cities, many buildings do not meet the minimum seismic standards.

For a country where 96% of its territory is located in an earthquake zone, the prevailing masonry structure in Türkiye is obviously inappropriate. So will the prevailing steel structure be more earthquake resistant than the masonry structure? The answer is yes!

The steel structure has good ductility, which can offset the energy consumption of seismic waves. The strength of steel is far stronger than that of masonry and concrete, but the density is only about 3 times of the density of concrete. At the same scale, the dead weight of steel structure construction is lighter, which also leads to the smaller seismic energy received by the steel structure construction in the earthquake, and it is also less prone to collapse. Therefore, in general, the seismic performance of steel structure construction is the best, It also has more significant survival advantages after the earthquake.

In addition to good seismic performance, steel structure construction also has the advantages of excellent environmental benefits, recyclable materials, large use space, etc. China has also issued a number of policies to actively promote steel structure housing, and set up pilot projects in seven provinces and cities. I believe that with the support of the country, the future of prefabricated steel structure construction will be very promising.
